Well I finally got out of London. Yahee!!! I have a correction to make on my last blog, apparently there are only 11 million people in London, so a dear friend tells me (thanks Poll) So my little shop assistant was wrong, though to be fair to her, it feels like 25 million, there are folk everywhere.
I arrived in Lincoln on Sunday, what a lovely place. My lovely friend Sue and her wonderful husband Jim picked me up from the bus station and took me to their home in the village of Metheringham. I want to thank them very much, they were so thoughtful and kind, going out of their way for me everyday. Sue and I walked around the village on Monday, then we went for a wonderful drive in the country on Tuesday, we went to Somersby, the birthplace of Tennyson and then had afternoon tea in a beautiful old mill. On Wednesday Sue and I went into Lincoln to see the Lincoln Cathedral, it is unbelievable. I went there 30 years ago and I forgot how awesome it really is. It is huge. We walked through the cathedral and then went to visit the Bishop's castle and gardens. The whole place is steeped in history, it was built in the early 1100's if my memory serves me, I hope it does, I was only there yesterday...
I bid goodbye to Sue and Jim this morning, with heartfelt thanks for a wonderful visit. It was very kind of them to share their home and beautiful garden with me.
I arrived in York after lunch and have taken a stroll around the town, I forgot my camera so you are spared any York pics today, but don't fret I shall make up for it tomorrow. Anyhow I have some lovely pictures of Linconshire to post today.
I am still having an awesome time, the English people are very friendly and today I discovered a little known fact.... IT actually does warm up in England.. I know I was surprised too. This morning I had to remove my jumper in Lincoln and this afternoon I actually had to remove my cardigan, okay I was walking in the sunshine but it was actually not cold, it was warm, not hot, but definitely warm!! My trip is getting more enjoyable by the minute!! Yippee warmth!!!
I shall spend three nights here and then shall catch a train to Scotland, I am really looking forward to Scotland.
My feet are once again letting me know they are there, so I shall put them up and have a drink in the bar of the hotel, nice flash place this one. I shall try to get photo's if I am allowed.
Here are some pics of Lincolnshire
Cheers

Metheringham village
A dinky die thatched cottage, look at the pattern on the top of the thatch.. How awesome is that??
The church where Tennyson's dad was the vicar
The Cathedral was enormous, I could not fit the whole thing in the picture. Really advise you to visit if you are ever in the area. Brilliant
