Surprise....YES!!!

Hi Folks

I left you pretending that I had no idea where I was going, but that was only in case my girls were reading my blog, which I doubt they are... Anyway I was off to London. I wanted to surprise them when they arrived and mission accomplished!!!

I left Cornwall and returned to Plymouth by car, I had to take Pricilla back to her owners and when I got there they had the booking under another name, so I should have kept her. Anyway I took the bus back to London and arrived about 1 pm. I had booked into the same hotel as the girls for 1 night, I was not out to cramp their style, I just desperately wanted to see them. They were to land at 3:30pm. I told the girl at reception what I was doing and asked her not to tell my girls I was there, but to let me know when they arrived. She was delighted to help me out as her parents are in Poland and she was missing them too. About 5:30 I started worrying in case the girls hadn't caught the plane, but they arrived about 6pm. I heard them pass my room, those of you who know my Razz, know she isn't the quietest person around!! I waited until they were in their room and then knocked on the door. They were gobsmacked but delighted, the receptionist told me later she waited around the corner to hear the screams, and she wasn't disappointed. We were all stoked to see each other after a month. The girls were exhausted though, Learra had a plan to beat jetlag, but I shan't tell you what it was as it doesn't work anyway!! We had a meal together and then they went to bed. I was leaving in the morning, but they wanted me to stay for 1 more day and I wanted to too. So it took ages to find another hotel as this one was full up. We finally found somewhere in the sticks for me to sleep that night and we went off to spend the day together. We went on the hop on hop off tour and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. I have pics!!

The girls on the bus, they didn't realise they were wearing the same colour until I pointed it out. I was calling them my twins!!

We got off at Buckingham Palace and then walked down to Parliament house and Westminster Abbey. We caught the boat to the Tower of London and then caught a bus back. By this time it was about 6pm and we had been going since about 6am, so we were all exhausted. We went back to Earls Court and had dinner then I caught a taxi to my new hotel and we had to say goodbye. But we will see each other again in Paris in about 23 days, so not so long to wait this time. It was brilliant catching up with them both. I asked Learra if it was a good surprise and she said "The best surprise ever!" So that made me really happy, I really do love my girls and it's nice to know they love me too.... Okay soppy bit over, you can relax now.

Outside Buckingham Palace. See twins, he he he...

My hotel was a disaster waiting to happen. We booked it over the net and the pics looked alright, actually the hotel inside wasn't gross, but the area left a lot to be desired. When the cab pulled up there were about 8 to 10 large African/Indian men lounging around the front of the hotel, sitting on the fence etc. They were not threatening in any way, just loud and kinda weird. Anyway my room was at the front of the hotel and these people where there well into the early hours, so not a lot of sleep and I wasn't brave enough to tell them to bugger off. This morning the Indian gent that runs the place gave me shitty directions to the station and I was lost, I had no money and had to find an ATM. I finally got some notes and then these two guys I asked for directions told me not to use the station, to take a bus. They were locals so I thought "Okay the station must be bad". I tried to take a bus but they wouldn't take me cause I didn't have any coins... I was getting really freaked out by now, the area was really the pits. Anyway I finally walked to the station, praying all the way and a really nice young girl helped me with the formalities and I caught a train. The station wasn't half as bad as the hotel, believe me.

I caught a bus to Dover for 5 pound, which I thought was pretty good. Then the P&O Ferry to France for 30 pound. I enjoyed the ferry crossing, it was really relaxing. I was sitting near a small lounge and suddenly all these school boys turned up and then along came the girls, it was hilarious watching them, it took me right back to my youth. Boys and girls running messages to each other, all preening themselves, running back and forth and trying to impress, I was totally entertained, they wouldn't have been more than 13 yrs old. But there was one boy whose hormones haven't kicked in yet, he was totally uninterested in any of the girls as he strolled around. I could tell he wasn't trying to impress the girls, he was wearing a Mr Messy T shirt!! I loved him.

Those famous white cliffs. Though the boat windows were filthy, so not a good pic. I didn't find the doors to the outside until after we were close to France..Oops..

The French coast line
So I am now in Calais. I am leaving tomorrow to spend 2 days in Lille and then I have no idea where I am going, but I would like to spend a few days in the same place if possible. My French is atrocious, I really should have practiced more in the last few months, I am hoping it improves in the next few weeks. The French are being very patient with me at the moment. I finally brought some new shoes today in Calais. There was a sale, what could I do? And I am sick of having hot feet.... so I brought 2 pairs of sandals and I shall be unstoppable now!!

Part of Calais, near my hotel.

If you live long enough you will see everything.... I was in a local restaurant for dinner tonight and two young girls came in and ordered beers. They came out with straws. Yep beer through a straw, I never thought I would see that.

The weather here is really lovely. I hope it continues. I shall post some pics for you to see and I hope you enjoy them

Shit, shit, shit. I just realised that with all my plotting and planning to surprise my girls I forgot my nephews birthday... Sorry mate.

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY JARED!!!

I hope you had the best day.. love you.

Cheers for now

Lones

  2. Hi Lones. I am pleased to hear that the reunion with your girls was as I expected it to be. A lot of screaming crying and whatever. You in another world now in France. I hope that you have a great time and leaen French quickly. I have been to Melbourne for a couple of days. the weather is still very cold, and have not seen the sun for a week. Don't expect to find that ALL French wine is great. Some of the roughest wine I have tasted was French. Enjoy it all. It is good to know what you are doing and where you are. Love to all Jack
