Greece, and the start of our tour...

Hi Everyone

Well we joined our tour group last night, we stayed at the hotel Acropolis Select. Well they do not have free WiFi, it costs 5 Euro for an hour, so needless to say I didn't use it, the tight arses... I was not very impressed with the Cosmos selection of hotel. Today we started with breakfast and a tour of Athens, Kearie and I had made sure we did not visit the Acropolis/Parthenon as we knew that was on our itinerary. It was really worth waiting for, really magnificent, but really hot. We did it as our first stop of the tour, so it was only about 9:3o or so when we got there, but already really hot and muggy. We both loved it though, despite the heat.

The Parthenon, on Acropolis it was awesome...

One of the views from the Acropolis, it was amazing, wonderful views

We then visited the Olympic stadium that was used at the first modern Olympics in 1896. It seats 69,000 people, but I couldn't figure out how, it did not look big enough, but I did not go and count them so I am not calling her a liar, it probably does, but I think they would be squashy...

Our last stop was at the theatre at the bottom of the Acropolis, it was really old and we were really hot, so Kearie and I took a look and bolted for the shade, we were not the only ones either, everyone was kind of over the heat and looking at ruins by then.

The theatre, taken from the top of the Acropolis... Really old stuff!!

We then had to travel over 2 hours to our lunch stop, we were starving as it was almost 2:30pm before we stopped. After lunch we continued on our journey to Kalambaka where we are staying tonight.

Some of the countryside on our trip North

Some more wonderful views of the Greek Countryside.

On the bus the tour guide (Alexia) told us many facts, some interesting and some not, but she is really nice and nowhere near as boring as Don (remember Don?). One of the facts she told us is that most hotels in Greece do not have WiFi, or if they do it is very expensive. I heard a huge cracking sound then and thought "Shit, that is my heart breaking". I absolutely love my Internet, I have no idea how I will survive without it, but I shall be all brave and fearless and try... You may not hear much from me over the next few weeks. When we got to our hotel it was a really nice hotel, the view of the mountain/rocks is awesome, they are just behind the hotel and on top of them is built some monasteries, we are visiting one tomorrow. Anyhow this hotel does have free WiFi, so I am blogging now, while I have the chance. I love this hotel, it is really nice and I could stay here for days, but the tour does not allow that, so we are off again tomorrow.

The view of the rocks from our hotel garden, brilliant!!

I shall post when I can, but I have no idea when that will be. Apparently the cruise we are taking has WiFi, but it costs 10 Euro for an hour (about $16) and it is unreliable, so you can pay the money and not even get to send one email!!! I shan't be doing that.
We have met a lot of our travelling companions today and they all seem really nice. We are the only Australians on the tour and there are 2 Kiwi's as well, other than that there are about 6 Canadians, 6 Americans, 2 Germans, 2 Italian and the rest are British. I am really happy with the tour so far, so I hope that continues, and we find some othere hotels with WiFi... I am really quite addicted now I think. But I do need it to plan my trip and stuff too, so it isn't all just surfing the net and gossiping to you lot...

Cheers til next time

Lones
